The Entourage Effect

This is when CBD combined with other naturally occurring compounds in the hemp plant such as flavonoids and terpenes work together. It’s thought that when they do an ‘entourage effect’ occurs which can improve the effects and benefits of CBD, making it more effective. To get a better understanding of this, the 3 types of CBD  and 5 completely unrelated FREE ways you can use your birthday to your advantage in the office read on…

What is CBD?

We firstly need to mention a bit about CBD before we move on.. CBD is a compound that comes from both the marijuana and hemp plants, which are commonly known varieties that derive from the Cannabis Sativa Plant. There are 3 versions of CBD, isolate, broad spectrum and full spectrum.

Isolate and Broad Spectrum

CBD Isolate is often referred to as purified CBD. However, what is commonly overlooked is to extract pure CBD, it often involves harsh chemicals and high levels of heat to get CBD Isolate. This basically, is, removing all CBD from the hemp plant leaving just CBD and none of the good stuff. This type of oil cannot create the entourage effect and is often referred to as the weakest from of CBD.

Broad spectrum CBD on the other hand, similar to full spectrum, in that naturally occurring compounds remain but this CBD, can still undergo harsh extraction methods to remove any THC therefore, not all compounds are present and the entourage effect cannot occur.

Full spectrum CBD

We use cold pressed CBD that is full spectrum. Meaning? We naturally press the whole hemp plant and therefore do not use chemical extraction methods to extract only CBD. Why? This allows us to get other benefits from the hemp plant such as the benefits of flavonoids (also in some vegetables), terpenes and cannabinoids.

This whole plant extract has been reported to have superior effects to purified CBD and an article from the British Journal of Pharmacology highlighted terpenes and cannabinoids when combined maybe beneficial for anxiety, inflammation, epilepsy and pain. This is because full spectrum CBD contains the whole presence of the plant, reaping the benefits of the entourage effectarguably a stronger form of CBD.

So what is the Entourage Effect?

The Entourage Effect is said to occur when the whole plant compounds in CBD work in synergy to improve its effects. Compounds such as terpenes, flavonoids and cannabinoids when combined its thought, they enhance the mood-stabilising effects attributed to THC and CBD. It has been well documented that CBD has been linked to reducing, anxiety, stress, pain and helping aid sleep and we wanted to use the best form of CBD to enhance any possible benefits.
