Despite the unclear legality around the laws surrounding CBD, don’t worry we clear that up below, one thing that is clear, is that CBD does not get you ‘high’.
WHAT IS CBD?
CBD aka cannabidiol, is a compound that comes from both the marijuana and hemp plants. The difference is CBD from hemp has a lack of psychoactive effects due to it contains no/trace amounts of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) therefore, CBD does NOT get you high. Unlike marijuana that contains high doses of THC and low doses of CBD, which does get you high!
LETS GET LEGALLY BLONDE (great 2001 movie)
Most CBD is extracted from ‘hemp’ but the rules around the legality of CBD and cannabis in the UK are confusing and have created a grey area. This is down to the fact there are various cannabinoids in the cannabis plant, including THC which are classed as controlled substances under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. However, CBD is not one of them phew, therefore it is legal but yet still widely misunderstood.
FEELING FOCUSED?
CBD is becoming increasingly popular and rightly so, as people are starting to see the positive effects it may have, reducing the common but incorrect phrase ‘CBD makes you high’. In fact CBD has been linked to a variety of potential benefits, including pain relief, anxiety reduction, improved mood and sleep. But as a person living wit ADHD our co-founder Conor kept forgetting to take it. So began pairing it with coffee and experienced some of these effects as well as something new, focus... energy from the caffeine and increased focus and reduced jitters and crashes from the CBD.
CBD with coffee has hit the CBD industry by storm because people are experiencing how they can reap the benefits of coffee but without the negatives. Get your hands on the first functional iced coffee here.
